
SOLVE-Nepal is a pioneer organization to form women group in Dhankuta B.S. 2047/48 (1990s.) and started saving practices with women mobilization for their informal education, livelihood and rights.
SOLVE-Nepal implementing some of the development programme to achieve it’s one of strategy of Women Empowerment. In which, Economic Empowerment for Social Justice (EESJ) project is one them. The project is funded by FCA and in implementation southern areas of Lalitpur district, Nepal. The project is focused on mainly:
Saving and Credit activities
SOLVE-Nepal is strengthening 12 women cooperative covering near to 5000 rural and excluded women to make them financially self-stand with collecting more than 50 million NCRS as saving and lending within themselves. The basic principle of work is based on:
- One female member from one house campaign
- Formation of local capital by saving and investment to it’s own members.
- Delivering skill development on possible enterprises to it’s members.
- Support in matching fund, micro credit management.
- Support to mitigate the negative effect of COVID-19.
- Awareness and action against domestic violence.
- Develop linkages with local government and mobilize their funds.
COVID-19 relief support to women
SOLVE-Nepal with the joint collaboration with Rural Municipality of Bagmati and Konjyosom has distributed the food items to those women, who are economically poor and having food crisis due to employment problem during COVID-19 bad affected those areas.This programme supported to solve the food deficit in ……………..households of the area.
Interest subsidy to the Cooperative Clients
SOLVE-Nepal coordinating with FCA has provided interest subsidy to the clients taken loans from cooperative. Due to the COVID-19 effect and lockdown in the country, they didn’t able to sell their agro-product in the market and gone wastage. So, they were quite unable to pay the installment with interest to the women cooperative, from where they take the loan. SOLVE-Nepal provided the sum of 161,147.00 NCRS to different 12 women cooperative as interest, and deposited the saving amount 1227000.00 as the saving amount on behalf of cooperative members, which gave relief to the women cooperative to save entrepreneurs who has taken loan and save the cooperative from massive default of loan.
Recovery action
SOLVE has planned to start a recovery plan to support the COVID-19 affected women for their income generation. SOLVE is distributing season based agro seeds to those women, who are the member of the women cooperative. SOLVE hopes that this action also contribute positively to generate the income of the women household and also to include those excluded household in cooperative.
Now, most of the women cooperative has their own building and staff, as an indicator of their sustainability. The local government is also contributed some financial support to make this campaign a success.
